In all its activities, the Academy relies on its IT Department. The IT Department closely accompanies work on the Historical Dictionary project and the scientific secretariat in developing and maintaining dedicated software, as well as in developing and supporting the Academy’s website and other platforms used today. The IT Department constantly contends with the need to develop its professional capabilities and to expand the tools at its disposal so that it can meet the accepted standards in areas such as information security capabilities and disaster recovery and in areas such as advanced software and hardware environments.

The IT Department has four main objectives:

  1. To enable Academy employees who create the databases and maintain contact with the public to work efficiently using advanced tools.
  2. To continually develop and update the Academy websites – the home site and its affiliates, the Ma’agarim site and the Academy’s terminology site – in order to provide accessible, quick and trustworthy service to online visitors in Israel and abroad.
  3. To protect the Academy’s unique databases from different types of harm.
  4. To provide computing services and technical support to all the Academy’s units.

The IT Department is one of the main keys to promoting the Academy’s interests and plans and it is working to further strengthen this department.
